World Continence Week 2026: Why We Still Need to Talk About It

Every year, World Continence Week arrives in June as a reminder that one of Australia's most common health conditions is still one of its least talked about.

We've been part of this conversation since 1989. 36 years of helping Australians find products that let them get back to their lives - back to the swimming pool, the long drive, the morning walk, the family gathering they almost didn't go to.

And every year, the numbers remind us why the conversation still matters.

In 2023, there were over 7.2 million people with incontinence in Australia, representing 1 in 3 people over the age of 15. That is an enormous number of people managing something that affects their confidence, their social lives, their sleep, and their sense of self.

Almost 6 in 10 people experiencing urinary incontinence talked to their GP about support options - which means more than 4 in 10 are still not seeking help. Still managing alone. Still saying no to things.

This year, World Continence Week runs 15-21 June 2026, with focus areas spanning male incontinence, kids and bedwetting, mental health, menopause, and long-term care. It's a reminder that incontinence doesn't belong to one age group or life stage - and neither does the solution.

What has changed - and what hasn't

The products have changed enormously. Washable incontinence underwear today is nothing like the bulky, clinical options of previous decades. Our range looks like regular underwear, fits like regular underwear, and can be worn through a full day without anyone knowing. Light to heavy absorbency, for men, women, and kids - swimwear included. If you haven't looked at washables lately, it's worth another look.

What hasn't changed as much is the conversation. Incontinence remains one of those topics people mention in hushed tones, or not at all. The shame that surrounds it - unearned, unnecessary, but persistent - keeps too many people from finding solutions that already exist.

Freedom is the point

At Night n Day, we've always believed that the product is not the destination - freedom is.

Freedom to travel without planning the trip around bathrooms. Freedom to swim without hesitation. Freedom to play with grandchildren on the floor, laugh without fear, sit in the white chair. Freedom to be present in your own life rather than quietly managing around it.

Together, we'll take you there. Anywhere. That's not just a slogan. It's the reason we show up.

What World Continence Week means for us

It's a week to remind anyone who's been quietly managing that help exists. That washable products are better than they've ever been. That the conversation with your GP or continence nurse is worth having. That you don't have to keep saying no.

If you're new to Night n Day - welcome. Browse our full range and find what works for you. If you've been with us for years - thank you for trusting us with something this personal. It means everything.
