Funding for continence products | National Funding Schemes

Washable or disposable incontinence products can become a very costly burden, especially if the products are required for a long period of time.

Fortunately, there are many different types of Government Funding Schemes offering financial support available at both a State and Federal / Commonwealth level. These schemes have different eligibility criteria. Assuming you are eligible, you may be able to apply for and obtain funding through several different schemes.

National Funding Schemes
Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS) – which we will focus on for this blog post
Rehabilitation Appliances Program (RA) – for War veterans or War widows by the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) – for eligible disabled Australians
Aged Care Packages – for eligible elderly Australians

State Funding Schemes
NSW – Enable New South Wales (EnableNSW)
VIC – State-Wide Equipment Program (SWEP)
QLD – Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (MASS)
WA – Continence Management and Support Scheme (CMASS)
WA – Incontinence Pad Scheme (IPS)
TAS – Community Equipment Scheme (CES)

The Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS)
For those experiencing incontinence, the ‘entry level’ assistance available to Australians is the Federal Government’s Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS).

The Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS) is a semi-annual cash payment (via a direct deposit in to your nominated bank account) of approximately $330 ($660 annually as at September 2020) to provide financial support for those people who require continence aids (incontinence products) to support their continence.
