What you Need to Know about the Continence Aids payment Scheme (CAPS)

Did you know you may be eligible for a government subsidy with regards to your need and use of incontinence pads?
The Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS) is a yearly non-taxable payment scheme offered by the Australian Government, which can provide financial relief to assist eligible people who have been diagnosed with permanent and severe incontinence. CAPS has been designed to help meet the cost of the affected person’s incontinence products.
Who is eligible for CAPS? or Can I get help with incontinence pads?
In order to be eligible you must:
- be 5 years or older
- have permanent and severe incontinence confirmed by a registered health professional
- be an Australian permanent resident or citizen for as long as you get the payment.
- Further eligible criteria: Who can get it
Registered health professionals who can confirm your condition include:
- general practitioner
- continence nurse
- registered nurse
- physiotherapist
- occupational therapist
- Aboriginal health worker
- medical specialist.

What date in July is the CAPS payment made?
The 2020-21 payment rate for CAPS is up to $623.80 per person.
This payment does not add to your taxable income and does not prevent you from getting other payments from Australian Government, Services Australia.
The index CAPS payment is on 1 July each year.
